Billie Nelson Obituary
Funeral services for Billie Faye Nelson, 87, of Pittsburg, TX will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg, TX with Bro. Kyle Smith and Rev. Alyus Nelson officiating. Interment will be at Piney Grove Cemetery in Upshur County. Arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Nelson passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 in a Longview hospital.
Mrs. Nelson was born January 3, 1933 in Camp County to George Washington and Ruby Mildred Lewis Davis. She was a retired cafeteria worker with Pittsburg Independent School District, former church secretary and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Billie Faye meant a lot to everyone who knew her. Her sweet presence could make any room a place where you wanted to be, and her laugh was one of a kind. Whether she was making dozens of homemade pies for others, sewing, or putting up all of the crops from Papa’s garden she did it all with a smile on her face because she loved it all. She loved doing things for others, especially beating them in cards, and that too runs deep in her family.
She is survived by her son, Larry Nelson and wife, Paula of Longview; daughters, Judy Ozbun and husband, T.J. of Gonzales, LA., Pam Harper and husband, Jim of Longview and Robin Dierkes and husband, Bob of Carthage; sister, Naomi Jedrusiak of Colleyville, TX; grandchildren, T.J. Ozbun, IV, Candice Hunt, Jessica Lee, Gordon Harper, Logan Nelson, Alyus Nelson, Wyatt Nelson, Ryley Nelson, Mollie Baker, Abbie Cogdell, Courtney Teshoian, Dana Ewing and Alex Dierkes; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Nelson is preceded in death by her husband, A.B. Nelson; parents; four sisters.
Pallbearers will be Gordon Harper, T.J. Ozbun, IV, Logan Nelson, Wyatt Nelson, Alyus Nelson and Mike Lee.
Visitations will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 6, 2020 at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
