Sandra (Martin) Efurd

Sandra Martin Efurd, 85, surrounded by her family, passed from this earth to her heavenly home on Monday, November 18, 2019, in Pittsburg, Camp County, Texas. She was born July 21, 1934 in Dallas, Texas to Cary James Martin and Geraldine Kent Martin. She was the first of two children. Sandra spent the majority of her life in Pittsburg, graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1952.

Sandra married her childhood sweetheart, John Hart Efurd, in 1952 in Pittsburg. They raised four sons. Sandra and John Hart were married 64 years until Mr. Efurd’s death in 2016. Family was everything to Sandra Efurd.

Sandra was a hard worker, working tirelessly with her husband from sun up to sun down, persevering through many times of adversity. She helped her husband, John Hart, plant peach trees in 1972, which, in time, grew to a successful peach business known as Efurd Orchards. Sandra attended Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church her entire life, helping in women’s ministry, Sunday School, and as church pianist for over 40 years. Sandra’s deep and abiding faith was exemplified throughout her life.

Sandra was an accomplished cook and baker, winning blue ribbons for her peach cobbler, jams and jellies. Sandra also received many awards, and much praise and recognition for her handwork in cross-stitching and needle point.

Sandra is survived by her sons, Cary John Efurd and wife Deborah, Richard Kent Efurd and wife Jan; Steven Michael Efurd; Gregory Martin Efurd and wife Amy; grandchildren, Cary James Efurd and wife Kristi, Kelly Efurd Lawson and husband Billy; Jonathan Efurd; Austin Efurd; Lauren Efurd Lowery and husband Josh; Madison Efurd; Tyler Efurd and wife Abbey; Brantly Efurd and wife Colin; Kevin Henderson and wife Beth; Reagan Efurd; Courtlyn Efurd; great-grandchildren Kayla, Logan, Meredith, Lauren, Sandra, Jubilee, Elijah Hart, Bea Elizabeth, Jonathan Hart, Luke Hart; brother, Jimmie Kent Martin and wife Candy; nephew Kent Martin and wife Uli and their sons, J.K. Martin and Daniel Martin. Mrs. Efurd is preceded in death by her husband, John Hart Efurd as well as her parents.

Funeral Services for Sandra Efurd will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church, 435 C.R. 1266, Pittsburg, Texas 75686. Burial immediately following at Crossroads Cemetery with Larry Davis officiating. Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. on Friday, November 22, 2019 at the Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel, 315 Rusk Street, Pittsburg, Texas 75686. Serving as Pallbearers will be Mark Bishop, Kent Martin, and grandsons Cary, Brantly, Kevin and Tyler. Guest are welcome to enjoy food and fellowship following burial at Crossroads Fellowship Hall.

Sandra Efurd was loved by all who knew her and will be missed. The family has peace and comfort in the knowledge that she is in heaven with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
