David Gene Matthews

Mr. David Gene Matthews age 66, of Pittsburg, and Mrs. Janey Roark Matthews, age 62, of Pittsburg both passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in Pittsburg. Mr. Matthews was born October 11, 1955 to Bobby Matthews and Faye Cox Matthews in Lubbock, Texas. Mrs. Matthews was born March 5, 1959 to Vestal Franklin Roark, Sr. and Elsie Louise Roark in Gilmer, Texas.

Mr. Matthews served in the United States Marines, they both attended Bethel Baptist Church in Pittsburg,

They are survived by their sons, Chris Matthews and wife Elizabeth, and Donald Matthews and wife Candy; daughters, Martha Farrell and husband Jacob, Marie Matthews, and Destiny Jobe and husband Blake; grandchildren, Damion Matthews, John Matthews, Naveah Matthews, Chance Farrell, Gracelynn Jobe, Rhett Jobe, Corbin Jobe, Michael Matthews, Desirae McCurry, Jessica Croley, Krysta Brewer, and Christopher Brewer; and great-grandchild, Jayce Williams; Mr. Matthews is also survived by four sisters; Mrs. Matthews is survived by eight sisters; and two brothers;  along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Mr. Matthews is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother, one brother-in-law, and one nephew; Mrs. Matthews is preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, they are both preceded in death by two sons, David Dean Matthews, and Cameron Lynn Matthews, and a grandson, Bryce Croley.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. January 28, 2022 at Macedonia Cemetery in Pittsburg, Texas. There will be no visitation.
