Gerran Peoples

Gerran Stefan Peoples, a long-time resident of Pittsburg, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on November 17, 2022, at the young age of 38, while at home with his wife.

Gerran was born February 28, 1984 in Pittsburg, Texas to Roy Lee and Carolyn Peoples. He attended Pittsburg High School, where he was elected class president for three years and graduated in the top 10% of his class with honors. Afterwards, he attended Northeast Texas for his Associate’s Degree, and then Texas A&M University where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance & Business Administration. Gerran married the love of his life, Jamie Lynn Peoples, on October 10, 2020.

He established his relationship with God at an early age, at Independent Hope Baptist Church. Then as he grew his relationship with The Lord, he attended Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church.

Gerran was a devoted husband and friend, and a loving brother and son. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his nieces and nephew. He enjoyed his hobbies of woodworking, working on his truck, and spending time outdoors. Gerran watched a lot of sports, but was always a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. Along with sports, he was an avid anime fan and loved going to the movies with his family. His most passionate hobby was his cooking. He began cooking at a young age, worked as a chef as a teenager, and continued to hone his skills during his life. Cooking for his family, friends and coworkers was one of his greatest joys in life.

He is survived by his wife, Jamie Lynn Peoples of Pittsburg; his mother, Carolyn Rogers of Pittsburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Davion and his wife, Keandra Peoples, Audric Peoples and his wife, Bianca Peoples; nieces, Serenity Peoples, Leah Peoples, Chloe Peoples, Zoe Peoples, and nephew, Aurian Peoples.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee Peoples, and grandparents, Royce B. and Bertha Lue Rogers, and Joe and Doris Peoples.

The family will have visitation at Erman Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 2:00-4:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Pittsburg, TX on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 1:00pm.  Reverend Patrick Lloyd will be officiating the service, and pallbearers will be Audric Peoples, Davion Peoples, Jeremy Rogers, Jared Thomas, Kenneth Montgomery, and Jacob Bradshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Rogers, Richard Rogers, and Aurian Peoples.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made toward his funeral expenses.
