Jerri Sue (McGowan) Proffitt

Mrs. Jerri Sue McGowan Proffitt of Pittsburg was born on July 30, 1953 in Ft. Worth to R.E. McGowan and Beth Blakeley McGowan and passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones on September 9, 2023. 

Jerri Sue grew up attending First Baptist Church in Keller and was currently a member of South Jefferson Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. She retired from the City of Pittsburg where she worked as a secretary and court clerk.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Allen Proffitt of Pittsburg; son and daughter-in-law, Jake and Misty Proffitt of Pittsburg; grandchildren, Kaden and his wife Ardyn, Kenley, Dakota and his wife Dallas, and Drake; brothers and sister-in-law, Edward and Joyce McGowan of Taylor, Ricky McGowan of Bridgeport, brother, Craig Schuff of Springtown; and a sister, Jana Proffitt Rogers and husband Charles of Wills Point.

She is preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Mozelle Proffitt, sister, Cindy Proffitt Schuff; and a nephew, Jordan Renfro.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at South Jefferson Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be held 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Fairy Cemetery in Fairy. The family will receive friends between 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Brother Tommy Oglesby will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Kaden Proffitt, Drake Proffitt, Dakota Durfee, Cameron Woods, Will Gamblin, and Bryce Crow. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cason Ragsdale, Colby Lindley, Justin Schuff, Erick Gaston, Josh Renfro, Archie Hayley, and Trey Martinez.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to South Jefferson Baptist Church.
