Lynn Newton Obituary

Mr. Lynn Myrle Newton, age 81, of Leesburg, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 14, 1942, to Myrle and Grace Newton in Natoma, Kansas.

Lynn grew up in Rural western Kansas, working on farms and in the oil field, which gave him a strong work ethic. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After returning home from Vietnam, he attended Spartan College of Aeronautics and became an aircraft mechanic. Lynn worked for Delta Airlines in St Louis, Kansas City, and DFW until his retirement in 2002.

After retiring, Lynn built his dream home on Lake Bob Sandlin to pursue his passion for fishing.   After Margaret’s passing, Lynn became an active member of the VFW, even spending several terms as the Commander and Quarter Master of Pittsburg Post 5398 where he made many good friends and met the second love of his life, Charlotte.  Lynn and Charlotte made a beautiful life together, traveling, fishing, motorcycle riding, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Charlotte Butler Newton; children, Sarah Purdy and husband Joseph, Allen Newton and wife Christy, Val Armstrong, Michael Mitchell, and Amiee Wright; grandchildren, Ashley Elliott, Gary Elliott, Laytin Spears, Joshua Purdy, Cody Newton, and Morgan Purdy; four great-grandchildren Jamie, Gunner, Harley and Hunter; as well as two sisters, Sharon Cooley, and Sandra Wade.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Newton, and both of his parents.
