Nancy Lee (Lake) Shaddix

Nancy Lee Shaddix (nee Lake) formerly of Pittsburg, Texas, passed away on March 23, 2024, in McKinney, Texas, at the age of 92. She was born on February 16, 1932, in Camp County, Texas to Roy and May Bynum Lake.  Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. with services at 2 p.m., April 12, 2024, at the Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kyle Smith officiating. 

A product of Leesburg and Pittsburg schools, she was Pittsburg High School’s 1949 Valedictorian. Nancy was a dedicated woman with an exceptional work ethic.  She worked at Cozart-Johns Insurance Agency for many years, and then became a “stay at home mom” when she actually managed her husband's farm businesses for many years, and in her late 50s, she started working at Pittsburg Middle School as an aide in the Learning Lab, and she retired in her mid-70s.  

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pittsburg. During the years, she taught Sunday School, was a Girl Scout leader, and was always around to help someone who needed her.  She loved to write, and enjoyed reading, sewing and gardening. Nancy was a loving mother to three daughters, a devoted grandmother to six, and a great-grandmother to five.

Nancy is survived by two daughters, Toni Mitchell of Little Elm, and Patti Fields, of Athens, grandchildren Rachel Isenhour of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Leah Tiemann of Round Rock, Valerie Baggett of Carrollton, David Baggett of Charlottesville, Virginia, Melanie Inman and Michele Marsh of Denison, and best friend and caregiver, Epi Dube of McKinney, five great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Shaddix, daughter Jeanie Baggett, granddaughter, Caroline Marsh, brothers, Thomas Lake, L.W. Lake and David Lake and sister, Flora Lake Thedford, and parents Roy and May Lake.

Pallbearers will be Tim Lake, Frank Parker, Roger Lankford, Randy Russell, Richard Fielden, and Fred Fielden.
