Shirley Temple (Griggs) McNeil

Graveside service for Shirley Temple McNeil, 86, of Greenville formerly of Pittsburg will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, May 3, 2021 at Spring Hill Cemetery in Titus County with Reverend Debra Leone officiating.  Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Titus County.  Arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home in Pittsburg.  Ms. McNeil passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021 in a Mt. Vernon nursing home.

The world lost a beloved mother, Shirley Temple McNeil, on April 28, 2021.  She was born on January 26, 1935 to Billy Griggs and Lizzie Griggs.  Shirley held many job titles but the most important one she had was being a mother and then a Grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Rosemary McNeil, Billy Dwan McNeil, Davelene Brown, Michael Shane McNeil and spouse Teddy; grandchildren, Tracy Ford and spouse, Zac, Steven McNeil, Hannah Weaver and spouse, Jacob, William McNeil, Dyllan McNeil, Shirley McNeil, Charles McNeil, Michael Kay, Crystal Pilgrim and spouse, Brandon, Kelly Gay, Richard Brown and spouse, Patricia; she was blessed with 19 great-grandkids. Her special nephews and nieces are Gary Abbott, Cynthia Martinez, Dorothy Abbott, Michelle Cummings, Michael Abbott, and Jesse Abbott.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Dwan McNeil, sister and brother-in-law, Betty, and Morris Abbott; sister, Elizabeth Griggs; brothers, Jesse Griggs, and Billy Griggs; son-in-law, Richard Brown and grandson, Danny Kay.

Our Mother was a woman like none other. She gave us life, nurtured us, taught us, dressed us, fought for us, held us, shouted at us, kissed us, but most importantly she loved us unconditionally.

Pallbearers will be Billy McNeil, Michael McNeil, Jackson Ford, Colton Ford, Steven McNeil, Richard Brown, William McNeil, and Dyllan McNeil.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2021 at the graveside in Spring Hill Cemetery.
